More than 127 groups have signed up to volunteer during this week’s Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) event, Make a Difference 2K12.

The event, which runs from Thursday to Sunday, aims to host 3,700 volunteers and pack 750,000 meals over the course of four days, according to the event website, makeadifference2k12.shutterfly.com.

According to a Thursday news release, all 3,100 volunteer spots have been filled, although those wanting to participate are still welcome and encouraged to sign up online.

Some of the groups participating in the event include members of the DeKalb and Sycamore high school athletics, administration and faculty; members of the NIU athletics teams; more than 20 church and youth groups; the NIU University Honors Program and other school and business groups.

Make a Difference 2K12 will take place at Cornerstone Christian Academy, 355 N. Cross St. in Sycamore, on Thursday, and at the Suter Company, 1015 W. Bethany Road in Sycamore, for the remainder of the event.

According to the FMSC website, all meals packed during FMSC events are sent to areas in need. FMSC meals are distributed to almost 70 countries worldwide.
