Trafficking of large shipment of methamphetamine stopped by local authorities

A large shipment of methamphetamine was tracked and connected to a DeKalb resident, according to a press release from the DeKalb Police Department.

Joseph P. Hosey Jr., 35, was arrested and charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver 400 to 900 grams of methamphetamine on Wednesday. The estimated value of the methamphetamine is between $16,000 and $20,000.

United States Postal inspectors tracked the shipment to 404 S. Fifth St., where Hosey was present when the package arrived and when police executed a search warrant on Wednesday, according to the DeKalb Police Department.

Daniel N. Stroz, 35, of Chicago, was also arrested Wednesday and charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver 400 to 900 grams of methamphetamine. Stroz had traveled to DeKalb to pick up the methamphetamine from Hosey, according to the DeKalb Police Department.

Donielle C. Parquette, 29, of Chicago, was traveling with Stroz to DeKalb. Parquette was found with a glass pipe containing residual amounts of methamphetamine. Parquette was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine, according to the release.

The United States Postal inspectors, the Drug Enforcement Agency, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office all assisted DeKalb police in the case. Hosey and Stroz’s bond was set at $500,000 each on Saturday, according to the DeKalb Police Department.
