A new book was published by Beatrix Hoffman, NIU history department chair, according to a University of Chicago Press article.

The book is titled Health Care for Some: Rights and Rationing in the United States since 1930. The book examines the way the U.S. system uses income, race and many other factors to distribute medical services.

The history department will host a book talk and reception for Hoffman on Nov. 2 at the Thurgood Marshall Gallery in Swen Parson Hall, said history professor Aaron Fogleman in an email. More information on the book is available at http://bit.ly/QY9CWe.
