Campus blotter for 5/7/12

Tuesday

At 1:40 p.m., officers were sent to the Holmes Student Center regarding a cell phone theft. Officers met with the complainant and took a report. This case has been administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

At 8:48 p.m., officers encountered a person in Lincoln Hall wishing to file a report about her stole OneCard and subsequent fraudulent use. This case is pending investigation.

Wednesday

At 2:16 a.m., officers responded to Neptune North for a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with the parties involved. Kevin R. Sandberg, 20, of Naperville, was arrested and charged for domestic battery. He was processed at the NIU police department and later transported to DeKalb County jail.

At 11:59 a.m., officers were sent to the Founders Memorial library for an assault. The officers found the people involved and spoke with them. A woman was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for assault.

At 12:20 p.m., an officer was sent to Founders Memorial library regarding the theft of a backpack. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is pending investigation.

At 12:28 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Douglas Hall to meet with a person who wanted to file a police report about his stolen wallet and unlawful charges to his credit card. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is pending investigation.

At 3:15 p.m., officers arrested Ashley M. Anderson, 20, of Chicago, for an original warrant for theft out of DeKalb County. Anderson was sent to the NIU police department for processing. Anderson later posted cash bond and was released.

At 5:18 p.m., officers arrested Jose R. Abundiz, 29, of Aurora, for a failure to appear want out of DeKalb County for a traffic-related offense. Abundiz posted cash bond and was released from custody.

At 8:13 p.m., an officer was sent to the art building for a theft report. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

Thursday

At 8:49 p.m., officers encountered an individual in the 900 block of Ridge Drive with an alcoholic beverage. The person was found to be under the legal drinking age. The person was given a verbal warning for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

At 11:28 p.m., an officer was sent to University Plaza regarding a theft report. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is administratively closed due to a lack of leads.

Friday

At 9:28 p.m., an officer was sent to the art building regarding a theft report. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is pending investigation.
