Campus blotter for 4/25/12

Sunday

At 8:14 p.m., officers responded to the outside of Northern View Apartments building 6A in regards to a male hitting his ex-girlfriend. Upon arrival, officers talked with the people involved. The ex-girlfriend refused to file charges. The ex-boyfriend was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for domestic battery.

At 11:54 p.m., an officer in the Douglas Hall lobby was approached by a male who said his ex-girlfriend assaulted him. The officer spoke with both people and confirmed the story. Jailon L. Berry, 19, of Belleville, was arrested and charged with domestic battery. Berry was processed at the NIU Police Department and then transported to DeKalb County Jail.

Monday

At 2:05 p.m., officers responded to the Stevenson Towers loading dock for a report of criminal damage to a vehicle. The officers met with a man who said someone shot paintballs at him and hit his vehicle. This case is pending investigation.

At 3:03 p.m., an officer responded to the NIU Police Department lobby regarding the theft of a cellphone. The officer met with a woman who said someone stole her cellphone from a bench on the fourth floor of DuSable Hall. This case is pending investigation.
