DeKalb crime blotter for May 8

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

  • At 7:56 p.m. Wednesday, DeKalb Police observed a black Chrysler Sebring with license plates which were registered to a Chevrolet van in the 400 block of Garden Street. Police performed a traffic stop and learned the driver, Luis Munoz, 30, of DeKalb, had a suspended driver’s license and did not have insurance. Munoz stated he had recently purchased the vehicle and had not yet changed the registration on the license plates. Munoz was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, driving with no insurance and driving without valid registration. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.

 

  • At 1:42 a.m. Friday, DeKalb Police observed a man holding a beer on the sidewalk in the 900 block of Greenbrier Road. Police learned the man, Lance S. Wesby, 21, of DeKalb, was wanted on a failure to appear warrant for the possession of alcohol by a minor. Wesby was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. Wesby could not post bond and was later taken to DeKalb County Jail.

 

  • At 2:13 a.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police witnessed a vehicle fail to obey a stop sign in the 1100 block of N. Annie Glidden Road. Police performed a traffic stop and learned the driver, Isiah D. Johnson, 26, of DeKalb, did not have a valid driver’s license. When he exited the vehicle, police witnessed Johnson drop a clear plastic bag containing a green plant-like substance on the ground. The substance tested positive as cannabis. Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, driving without a valid driver’s license and disobeying a traffic control device. Johnson was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
