Sycamore host Easter goodies, events

SYCAMORE | The Sycamore Park District is offering several Easter-themed community events this week, including a Flashlight Egg Hunt and Breakfast with the Bunny.

The Sycamore Park District will host its annual Breakfast with the Bunny on Saturday at 7:15 a.m. and again at 8:40 a.m. Both breakfasts will take place at the Sycamore Golf Course Clubhouse.

Bart Desch, Superintendent of Recreation for Sycamore Park District, said there will also be activities and treats for the children.

“Everyone gets a free bag with candy and craft projects inside,” Desch said.

Desch said breakfast will cost $3.50 per person and a picture with the bunny is $1.50.

Following the breakfasts, the Sycamore Police Department will be sponsoring an egg hunt at the Sycamore Park District Sports Complex at 9:30 a.m.

“These are fun events for the little ones and parents also,” said Sycamore Mayor Ken Mundy.

Additionally, the Sycamore Park District will be holding a Flashlight Egg Hunt from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Sycamore Golf Course.

On top of hunting for eggs by flashlight, the park district will also be providing arts and crafts projects during the event. The participation fee for the egg hunt is $10.

Desch said there was a chance the Flashlight Egg Hunt might not take place because of a lack of participants.

“We would have liked to have at least 10 people signed up,” Desch said.

According to Desch, only six people have signed up so far, and people wishing to participate must sign up by Wednesday morning.

This is the second year the Park District has attempted a Flashlight Egg Hunt; the event did not happen last year due to a lack of participants.

Mundy said he hopes the weather is more cooperative as it gets closer to the weekend, but the events are scheduled to happen “rain or shine.”

“We wish everyone a joyous Easter, and we hope everyone stays safe,” Mundy said.
