Campus blotter for 11/04/10

April 13

• About 12:05 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Lot W to investigate criminal damage to property. The officer observed that a vehicle parked in the lot had splattered eggs on it, along with three flat tires. Due to lack of cooperation and evidence, this case is administratively closed.

Oct. 12

• About 11:05 p.m., a subject reported the theft of her bag from the Recreation Center. When the officer followed up with the owner of the bag, she stated a friend had found it and had returned it to her, making this case unfounded.

Oct. 23

• About 12:40 p.m., a female subject at Huskie Stadium was observed with a glass containing a beverage she later admitted was alcohol. She was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Oct. 25

• About 11:24 p.m., a student at Lincoln Hall reported the theft of her cell phone. This case is pending investigation.

 

Oct. 26

• About 10:36 p.m., an officer on patrol came across a student who walked out of his room carrying a smoking device, then walked back in after seeing the officer. After having a conversation with the student, who also revealed a small amount of cannabis, the officer gave him a verbal warning for unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 27

• About 12:20 a.m., someone reported a bag of cannabis in an elevator at Grant South. An officer recovered it and located the owner, who received a referral to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.

• About 11:54 p.m., an officer on a building check of Grant North noticed the odor of burnt cannabis from a particular room. After the officer spoke with the occupants, Darrell Woods, 19, of Broadview, admitted to smoking marijuana and revealed baggies of cannabis and a scale. Woods was arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis and delivery of cannabis 30 grams and under.

Oct. 28

• About 2:53 a.m., an officer observed a male individual with blood coming from the right side of his face and pants. The individual admitted to consuming alcoholic beverage and is under the legal drinking age of 21. The individual will be referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. The case is closed due to refusal to cooperate.

• About 8:24 p.m., a subject reported the theft of a cell phone at Grant South. He left his cell phone behind in the computer lab, and it was gone when he returned to retrieve it. With no leads or suspects, this case is administratively closed.

Oct. 29

• About 11:04 a.m., a Grant North front desk worker received a report of damage to a vehicle parked in Lot W. Upon arrival to Lot W, the officer observed a vehicle with damage to driver side mirror, dented rear quarter panel and damage to gas tank door. Upon speaking with the owner it was confirmed the damage was new. The case is open and pending investigation.

• A transportation worker reported a large hole was cut into the fence of their storage area. The complainant was not sure when damage occurred. The case is administratively closed pending further leads.

• About 12:15 p.m., a complainant contacted the police department to report damage to his vehicle. The driver side mirror was missing. The case is open and pending investigation.

• About 12:15 p.m., an officer on patrol of Lot W observed damage to a mirror on a parked vehicle. The case is open and pending investigation.

• About 3:50 p.m., a complainant reported that she had left her cell phone in a Grant North restroom and was unable to locate it when she returned. The incident occurred on Oct. 28 between 11:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. The case is administratively closed pending any further leads.

• At about 5:14 p.m., an officer was dispatched to meet with a complainant in NIU Parking Lot 3 regarding criminal damage to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant, who told the officer that person(s) unknown and without permission had caused damage to his vehicle sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. The case is administratively closed pending any further leads.
