The DeKalb Fire Department is still investigating a structure fire that occurred Tuesday night at 903 Grove St.

DeKalb Fire Chief Bruce Harrison said the initial cause of the fire was said to be intentional in nature. No injuries were reported as the house was recently vacated by the renters, Harrison said.

The state fire marshall was called to assist with the investigation, according to a press release from the fire department.

DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said they are working with the fire department on investigating who caused the fire. Spangler said the police are working on some leads, but declined to go into detail.

The fire started about 8:51 p.m. in the stairwell leading from the first to the second floors, according to the release. Harrison said firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Additional crews from Cortland and Sycamore Fire Departments assisted with putting out the fire.

The damage was estimated to be about $30,000, according to the release.
