Gov. Quinn cancels NIU visit, 3 other Ill. universities

By Northern Star Staff

Ill. Gov. Pat Quinn has cancelled his trip to the NIU campus as well as three other Illinois universities scheduled for today. Brenna Conway, college coordinator of Quinn’s campaign, said Quinn also canceled trips to the University of Illinois at Chicago, Bradley University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Conway couldn’t give an exact reason as to why Quinn is unable to make the scheduled stops.

“Things change rapidly on the campaign trail and he was forced to cancel,” Conway said.

Quinn was scheduled to speak from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Barsema Hall Room 301. The meet and greet was sponsored by the NIU College Democrats and was going to feature a speech by the governor followed by a question-and-answer session.
