Small fire breaks out in Star apartments

A small structure fire broke out in a Star Properties building around 12:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

DeKalb Police on the scene said they weren’t sure how the fire started, but that no one was injured.

Residents of the apartment that caught fire, located at 627 Lucinda Ave., were able to wait in the Holmes Student Center until they were given the all clear, said Melinda Plagaman, senior physical therapy major.

Plagaman is a resident of the building, but doesn’t live in the actual apartment where the fire was contained.
