Lundeen’s hosts Brew Ha Ha!

Sycamore | The aroma of beer and brats filled the air Saturday afternoon outside of Lundeen’s, 1760 DeKalb Ave.

Lundeen’s fifth annual Oktoberfest Brew Ha Ha! offered over 100 samples of various beers, bratwursts from Tom and Jerry’s, 1670 DeKalb. Ave., and German music to complete the mood.

Julie Lundeen, owner of Lundeen’s, said the idea came from the family as a way to bring Oktoberfest to DeKalb County.

Lundeen said the beer sampling helped give beer knowledge to those who wanted it.

“There were lots of various beers here for people to have the chance of sampling them,” she said.

Several DeKalb County residents went to the Oktoberfest event just for that reason.

Senior kinesiology major Ben Kotars came to Brew Ha Ha! as a way to expand his beer horizons.

“I never got any education so this was a perfect opportunity to talk to people who know their stuff,” Kotars said.

For others, tasting the different beers was a way to keep more cash in their wallets.

DeKalb resident Tony Banta said the beer sampling helps save money.

“It gives the chance to try different varieties so you’re not wasting money on beer you might not like,” Banta said.
