Gaza article presented as one-sided report

By LETTER WRITER

When Kathy Kelly talked about her experience in Gaza at an on-campus meeting of the DeKalb Interfaith Network for Peace and Justice on April 23, she decried — on humanitarian grounds — the actions of the Israeli military.

Why did she not — on humanitarian grounds — criticize the Hamas officials in Gaza for allowing the launching of missile attacks at Israeli civilian targets, including Sapir College in neighboring Sderot where students our age have not been able to attend class for years?

In addition to decrying the death of civilians in Gaza during the recent war, why did she not — again on humanitarian grounds — criticize the Hamas officials for allowing suicide attacks within Israel that kill innocent civilians?

Ms. Kelly presented a one-sided report, based on her experience in Gaza with Palestinian families. The news story in the Star should have pointed out explicitly that she is not a neutral observer of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
