Two arrested in gang fight

A DeKalb man and a 16-year-old juvenile were charged with mob action Friday after a reported gang fight where a bat and metal pole were used, police said.

At about midnight, DeKalb Police were called to a residence in the 1100 block of North First Street for a fight in the front yard. Several suspects fled the scene on foot and by car before officers arrived, but police later found Kyle W. Knight, 29, and the 16-year-old juvenile at a residence elsewhere in DeKalb and arrested them for their alleged involvement, said DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler.

During the fight, witnesses said two men were carrying a metal pole and a baseball bat, Spangler said. Other people involved in the fight sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention, he said.

Investigators are still trying to “piece together what started the fight,” Spangler said. Police believe the fight was gang-related and expect more arrests in the case, he said.

Knight and the 16-year-old were both charged with mob action. Knight was taken to DeKalb County Jail pending bond, and the juvenile is being detained at a youth home pending a court appearance. Both men have gang affiliations, Spangler said.
