DeKalb 6th Ward Alderman Candidate: Dave Baker

By JOHN BACHMANN

Dave Baker

Education: An NIU alumnus, where he spent six years studying business and finance

Experience: He has served as alderman for eight years. As alderman, he pushed for the DeKalb Landlord-Tenant Ordinance which told clearly what rights and responsibilities of renters and landlords have in the DeKalb community. He has also worked on student safety by fighting for new crosswalks and traffic safety improvements on Annie Glidden Road and new lighting on Lincoln Highway.

What will you bring to the city if elected?: Baker is running for alderman again for his strong regard for student issues and concerns and to help the people who live in DeKalb. Baker said he brings his efforts on issues that specifically concern students to the ward. He has worked to make DeKalb a more affordable place to live by consistently opposing increases in property tax rates. He has also helped lead negotiations to bring in new businesses with new and better jobs for students and residents.
