Sycamore police arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old juvenile, according to a news release.

Rudy L. Salazar, 54, of Sycamore, was arrested and charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault Wednesday after an investigation by police led to a warrant for his arrest, the release said.

The investigation was initiated by the victim when they said they had “sexual contact” with Salazar.

Sycamore Police Sgt. Steven Cook said police obtained the warrant around 7 p.m. Wednesday, and Salazar was arrested shortly afterward.

Salazar was released Thursday after posting $10,000 bond, according to the DeKalb County Jail.

If convicted, Salazar could face up to seven years in jail and a fine of $25,000.
