An NIU student was arrested early morning March 6 after reportedly walking around the 900 block of Greenbrier Road with a 6-inch butcher knife, police said.

At about 1:40 a.m., a complainant told police they saw Antawan A. Martin, 21, of DeKalb, walking around the area with a butcher knife in his hand. Martin allegedly motioned with a knife at the complainant who was in a car dropping people off in the area, said DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler.

DeKalb Police found Martin and Jason. A. Jones, 21, of DeKalb, in the 700 block of Russell Road, where they saw the knife in Martin’s hand. Martin and Jones both refused to listen to the officer and were arrested.

Martin was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer, and Jones was charged with obstructing a peace officer.
