Roadside safety checks to be held on Annie Glidden tonight

By ALAN EDRINN

The DeKalb Police will hold roadside safety checks tonight in a combined effort with the Illinois State Police.

Between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., the 100 block of North Annie Glidden Road will be the site of the checks, aimed to deter drivers from not wearing seat belts and driving without proper credentials.

About 10 DeKalb and state police officers will also be checking for drunk drivers and any active warrants for the drivers, said DeKalb Police Lt. Carl Leoni.

Police will funnel the passing vehicles through, stopping and checking a certain number, and then passing them through, Leoni said.

“It’s not a roadblock,” Leoni said. “We’re not going to stop and look at every car coming through.”
