Despite lack of snow, accidents abound

There are no accidents like snow accidents.

Between 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received over 100 snow-related calls, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

Of these, eight were personal injury accidents, 13 were property damage accidents and 43 were reports of vehicles in ditches, according to the release.

“This morning was exceptionally busy, but probably matched some of the heavier snows we’ve had in December and January,” said DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.

The busiest period Monday was between 5 p.m. and midnight, when the Sheriff’s Office received three reports of vehicle accidents and 18 vehicles going into ditches, Scott said.

The majority of calls were related to snow and ice-covered roads, according to the release.
