DeKalb men detained for car burglaries

Two DeKalb men were arrested Saturday after allegedly breaking into several cars, police said.

Reed J. Anderson and Matthew D. Clark, both 18, were arrested in the 300 block of Delcy Drive after a neighbor in the area reported two men looking into parked cars.

At about 11 p.m., DeKalb Police found Anderson and Clark breaking into a car in the area, and later found several other vehicles had been entered, said DeKalb Police Sgt. Bob Redel.

Anderson and Clark allegedly broke into seven vehicles and attempted to enter five, Redel said.

The two men were looking for unlocked car doors in the area, and no damage to the burglarized vehicles was reported, he said.

A few blocks away from Anderson and Clark, two people were found waiting in a car for the two men, believed to be involved in the car burglaries, Redel said. One of the people in the car, a DeKalb juvenile, was charged with possession of cannabis. The other person in the car has not been charged, Redel said.

“They were waiting for them, and they knew what the other guys were doing,” Redel said. “It’s possible there will be more charges down the road.”

Anderson and Clark were both charged with burglary. Redel said some of the stolen items have been recovered, but he did not know what items were taken.
