Man arrested for not wearing pants

An NIU student was arrested after allegedly walking down the sidewalk without pants Friday night.

Around midnight, DeKalb Police were called to University Village Apartments in the 700 block of Russell Road for a report of a man walking outside while not wearing pants. Officers saw the suspect, Nicholas D. Mitchell, 20, walking down the sidewalk and shined a spotlight on him at which point Nicholas fled the area, said DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler.

Mitchell was later found in the 800 block of Crane Drive laying on the ground trying to hide. He was found wearing a hoodie with a T-shirt underneath, Spangler said.

Police arrested Mitchell and charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer. Mitchell was listed as living in Neptune East, according to police reports.

Witnesses told police Mitchell was “posing” outside on the sidewalk as if to try and lure someone toward him, Spangler said.

Police could not find any evidence of original reports that Mitchell was peeking in windows, and no other inappropriate acts were seen, Spangler said.
