Cook County results delayed by glitch

Voting results were delayed in Illinois’ largest county because of a temporary glitch that officials say has been resolved.

Spokeswoman Courtney Greve says the Cook County Board of Elections couldn’t produce election results reports for about an hour Tuesday. She says individual voting records are safe, but computers couldn’t produce cumulative totals.

County Clerk David Orr says technicians examined and tested electronic voting machines in the days up to the election.

Orr expects turnout to top 80 percent. The county hit a new high for registered voters in the run up to the election, with 1.4 million on the rolls.

There are 7.7 million registered voters in Illinois.
