Attempted burglary on Fotis Drive

By ALAN EDRINN

Two men jumped off of an 8-foot-tall balcony after they were caught stealing electronics from an apartment in the 800 block of Fotis Drive.

At 4:45 p.m. Monday, a resident of the apartment, who was in the basement, went to the second floor after hearing a noise. When the resident got upstairs, he saw two men attempting to steal electronic items from the apartment, said DeKalb Police Sergeant Bob Redel. The two men then jumped off of the balcony and ran from the apartment, Redel said.

Police believe three people may have been involved in the burglary, with a third suspect waiting outside in a car while the two men went inside, Redel said. A witness at the scene said he saw one of the men who jumped off the balcony limping as he ran away, and may have been injured by the jump, Redel said.

There was no forced entry to the apartment, and nothing was stolen from the apartment.

Redel said the case is still under investigation, and police have “good leads” in the investigation.
