Brian Hemphill, vice president of Student Affairs, was recently named one of three finalists for his same position at Penn State, as reported by The Daily Collegian, Penn State’s student newspaper.

The paper reported that Hemphill was one of over 60 applicants to apply for the position.

The two other finalists are Robert Bonfiglio, vice president for Student and Campus Life at the State University of New York and Damon Sims, associate vice provost for Student Affairs at Indiana University, the article said.

Hemphill could not be reached for comment by press time.

Hemphill has been vice president of Student Affairs at NIU since August 2004 and in the past has been the associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs and dean of students at the University of Arkansas.

Ray Alden, executive vice president and provost, had no comment on the possible departure of Hemphill.

The final decision will be announced at the Penn State Board of Trustees meeting on May 16, the paper reported.
