The United Way wants to award volunteerism in DeKalb.

The Kishwaukee United Way is seeking nominations for its second annual Spirit of Caring award.

“We’re kind of celebrating volunteers,” said Dawn Littlefield, the group’s executive director. “Including about 32 local agencies and nonprofit staff or volunteers.”

The award is open to all volunteers and Littlefield hopes to see an increase in nominations by community members from last year.

“I think we’ll get a lot more interest this year,” she said.

Littlefield said there were four winners of last year’s Spirit of Caring award.
