County senior center offers rules of the road review

DeKALB | The DeKalb Senior Citizens Center and the Secretary of State’s office are offering a Rules of the Road review course for all DeKalb residents.

The review course will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday at the DeKalb Senior Citizens Center, 330 Grove St.

Although anyone is welcome to take the refresher course, it is mainly aimed at senior citizens in the DeKalb area who are due for their license renewal test.

“Anyone can come to the class, but a lot of the people who attend are seniors who need to take their driver’s test,” said Ann Lindahl, director of the Senior Services Center for Family Services Agency of DeKalb County

.

Fortunately, the course is not offered because of a high accident rate among senior citizens. It is a course to help drivers pass their renewal tests that is offered throughout Illinois.

“We’ve been very fortunate because the seniors who visit our center haven’t been recently coming in saying they’ve gotten in accidents,” Lindahl said.

The course is offered every other month at the same location.

“We expect a high turnout, depending on the weather,” Lindahl said. “Usually, a full class consists of 20 people.”
