DeKALB | An NIU student was shot and killed in Chicago early Friday.

According to Chicago police, Dominique Willis, 21, was sitting in a vehicle with a number of other persons when she was shot in the head around 12:20 a.m. on the 10400 block of South Morgan Street.

Willis was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead at 3 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An NIU spokesperson said that a crisis team had met early Monday to discuss how NIU would handle the death.

Willis lived off-campus and worked for Housing and Dining Services at NIU.
