Sycamore City Council keeps Nicklas

SYCAMORE | Bill Nicklas will remain Sycamore’s city manager for another four years.

The council unanimously voted to renew Bill Nicklas’ contract for another term Monday night.

“I just wanted to say what an honor it is to welcome you again,” said 1st Ward Alderman Alan Bauer.

The plan to build the 200-home “Traditions of Sycamore” subdivision was tabled until the next council meeting on March 19.

Construction of the subdivision has raised some concern among council members and residents alike. The plan calls for 152 single-family homes, 18 courtyard homes and 30 townhouses and commercial estates.

“I recommend that any action on this proposed preliminary plan be deferred until the next regular meeting,” Nicklas said.

Council members supported Nicklas’ recommendation. Fourth Ward Aldermen Terry Kessler and Darren Knuth were not present. The council said it was in the city’s best interest to hold the vote until all members were present to air their thoughts on the matter.

Second Ward Alderman Pete Paulsen said the plan is something that could benefit Sycamore.

“I think it’s kind of a neat alternative,” Paulsen, said. “It deserves a little more looking into by people.”
