Silverette show should sparkle

DeKALB | NIU’s dance team, the Silverettes, will perform at a dance event called “The 13.”

The show will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the Holmes Student Center’s Carl Sandburg Auditorium.

The show will focus on various types of dance, such as lyrical, modern, jazz, tap and hip-hop, said Courtney Chanel Davis, Silverette member and senior marketing major.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.

“We really hope to get as much support as possible because we have worked extremely hard,” Davis said. “I am glad to end my senior year on a high note such as this.”

Profits from the show will go toward the purchase of new uniforms.

“I’m really excited to put on the show, because we need to raise money for new uniforms, and while practicing, it was amazing to see the capabilities we have,” said Lori Andel, Silverette member and sophomore elementary education major.

Silverettes head coach Lisa Morreale is enthusiastic about the talent she has seen leading up to the show.

“It is wonderful to see the girls come alive,” Morreale said. “It is great to see all of the girls’ passion, and I am truly amazed at all of the incredible talent. It is going to be a fantastic show.”
