Brittnii Sutton, a 23-year-old NIU student, was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident at 9725 Pulaski Road in Evergreen Park early Sunday.

Sutton, a general studies major, was the passenger in a vehicle driven by Brandi E. Rose, 21, of Chicago. The women were traveling southbound on Pulaski Road. They exited the vehicle and became involved in a physical altercation in the 9700 block of northbound Pulaski, according to a Village of Evergreen Park police report.

Both women were struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Pulaski, which fled the area after striking the victims. The vehicle is described as a small compact, silver or light blue in color, last seen leaving the area heading north.

Sutton was pronounced dead on the scene, reported at 5:57 a.m. Sunday. Rose was transported to Christ Hospital by the Evergreen Park Fire Department, but doctors were unable to revive her, police said.

Cook County police reconstructed the incident and detectives are seeking out witnesses to the accident while reviewing security surveillance tapes from area businesses in an effort to verify accounts of the accident.
