Roadside safety check yields 93 citations

The Illinois State Police and the DeKalb Police Department issued 93 citations during a five-hour roadside safety check Friday, June 30. The checkpoint was set up at Annie Glidden Rd. and Route 38 and the following arrests were made:

Operation of an uninsured motor vehicle (51)Seatbelt violations (10)Driving on a suspended driver’s license (4)No valid driver’s licence (4)Illegal transportation of alcohol (3)Illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor (2)Child restraint violations (2)Driving under the influence (1)Illegal possession of alcohol by a minor (1)Subject wanted on a warrant (1)

The remainder of arrests were made for various other traffic violations, according to State Police District 2 Commander Jeff Hedrich. Roadside checkpoints are funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Times when the checkpoints will take place and where are available to the public.
