RHA hosting concert Friday at Central Park

The Residence Hall Association will host a concert featuring KROD and Guaime from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday in Central Park.

Central Park is between the Stevenson and Grant residence halls.

The event, which is free for students, is organized by the RHA along with Believing In Culture as part of its end-of-the-year program.

“It’s a great way to say ‘thank you’ to our residents for supporting us and a way for them to have fun before finals,” RHA President Keith Kruchten said.

Angela Zentefis, vice president of programming for Douglas Hall, said the concert will be a great way to finish the last week before finals.

“The concert is going to be huge and loud, and everyone is done with classes at that time, so I hope they all come out,” she said. “It will be fun.”

There will also be free giveaways from RHA, BIC and other organizations.

Similar events organized by RHA have had great success, Kruchten said. The program tries to reach out to different people and their interests.

“There should be more concerts and events like this,” said Celine Zeiger, a freshman textiles, apparel and merchandising major, “especially with the weather being nice.”

Qdoba will sponsor a 150-person taco bar where students will be able to assemble tacos with fresh ingredients made the day of the event, shift manager Brandon Lindloff said. Because of the number of NIU customers Qdoba serves, the restaurant wants to get more involved with the NIU community through similar events.

“We get a lot of students, and we’re building a strong rapport [with them],” Lindloff said.
