Groups to be introduced in park

Students can come out and see what NIU organizations have to offer at the Student Association’s Organizational Expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Central Park, between Grant and Stevenson Towers.

The expo is meant for everyone – new and current students – said Allison Thompson, director of public affairs for the SA.

The purpose of the event is to get as many organizations as possible to gather in one place so students get the opportunity to learn what the campus has to offer, Thompson said.

The expo is a way for students to learn about organizations that maybe aren’t publicized as much as others, she said.

“Sometimes it can be hard to track down organizations if they don’t do flyers or don’t have Web sites,” she said.

Another good thing about the expo is that it gives students one-on-one time with representatives of organizations, she said. If a student has any specific questions about an organization, they can ask it right away in person, Thompson said.

Thompson said the expo has been going on ever since the SA began.

She said last year had a great turnout and that the SA hopes everyone will attend the event this year.
