NIU student Lisa Hessenius still is in critical condition in a Rockford hospital following an accident where she was hit by a car while crossing the street.

Hessenius, 21, was hit while crossing Stadium Drive at Annie Glidden Road. According to police, she was crossing against the light when a car “clipped” her. She received immediate medical attention and has been at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford for a week.

On Monday, nurses at the St. Anthony Neuro Intensive Care Unit would not comment further on her condition. Hessenius’ family also refused comment.

Police have yet to press charges in the accident.
