Region boasts variety

The Southeast Asian Club, Center for Southeast Asian Studies and the Southeast Asian community will host a Southeast Asian culture night on Friday.

Lyndy Worsham, vice president of the Southeast Asian Club, said the purpose of the organization is to promote awareness of Southeast Asian culture.

“It’s a really interesting region of the world,” she said. “Each country is completely different from each other.”

The event is free, but an authentic Thai meal is available for $5 for club members and $6 for non-members. The deadline to order the meal is today, and students should call the Center for Southeast Asian Studies to place the order, Worsham said.

The culture night will feature a performance by professional dancers from a Buddhist temple, Worsham said. Khmer songs also will be performed.

Worsham said prizes will be given away at the event.

Students should come to learn more about the diversity in Southeast Asia, Worsham said.

“It will be a fun event, and I encourage people to bring their children,” she said.
