A man was pinned between a parked car and a pizza delivery vehicle shortly after 9 p.m. Monday night in front of Grant Towers North.

Witnesses reported the man, whose name has not been released, was walking behind a parked Chevy Camaro when the pizza delivery driver pulled into the drive from behind.

The vehicle, a Plymouth Breeze, failed to stop and struck the man, witnesses said.

The pedestrian was pinned between the rear bumper of the Camaro and the front of the Breeze.

“The pizza delivery driver backed up as soon as he realized he had hit him,” said witness Roger Davidson, a freshman undecided major.

“He fell to the ground screaming,” Davidson said. The victim then laid on the pavement, clutching his knees, he said.

The man was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

University Police Sgt. Tony Ayala said the victim sustained minor injuries and could be released within hours.

University Police are investigating the incident.
