NIU, ISU washed out—again

By Todd McMahon

Nothing like some heavy raindrops to ruin a parade—for the second time in as many weeks, nonetheless.

The downpour that blanketed Illinois Thursday forced the cancellation of the women’s tennis match between NIU and Illinois State in Normal.

Originally, the two squads were to hook up last Friday but ISU’s outdoor courts were not conducive for action, thanks again to Mother Nature’s own version of spring cleaning.

But as far as the Huskies and Redbirds are concerned, maybe the third time will provide the “necessary” sunshine and blue skies as the non-conference match has been rescheduled for next Wednesday at ISU. No time has been determined.

Patty Newbrough’s NIU squad stands at an even 9-9 on the season, and the ISU match (if played) signals the end of the road portion of the schedule.

The Huskies will close out the regular season April 17 versus Bradley at the West Campus Courts before hosting the Mid-Continent Conference Championships, April 23-24.
