Police arrest two men for thefts

DeKalb County Sheriff’s police have arrested two men in connection with a string of burglaries and vehicle thefts that occurred between June and October.

Sheriff’s department investigators suspect the two men may have been involved in as many as 10 burglaries to homes and vehicles.

A 16-year-old Malta male and transient Eric Wilson, 17, were arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and burglary to a vehicle.

Wilson has been in DeKalb County Jail since his arrest, with bond set at $10,000.

Sheriff Roger Scott said the juvenile was out after posting bond Tuesday when police arrested him again.

Investigators gathered enough information to charge the juvenile with another count of possession of a stolen vehicle and another count of burglary to a vehicle, Scott said.

The juvenile is in DeKalb County Jail with bond set at $5,000.

The vehicles stolen apparently were taken for joyrides. Scott said one of the vehicles was recovered in Chicago.

The sheriff’s department is still working on the burglary cases, and more charges may be filed against the men, Scott said.
