Two men wanted after knife fight Sunday at Pita Pete’s

Two men are wanted in connection with the knife fight on Sunday night at Pita Pete’s, 901 Lucinda Ave.

Police said a man was running from two men when he entered the restaurant at about 7 p.m.

“He came in and was pulling the door shut on the other guys; we thought he was joking around with his friends,” said Funkweeda Jones, an employee at the restaurant.

Jones said she saw that the man had a butcher knife.

The man backed away from the door and grabbed a chair to defend himself as the men rushed in, Jones said.

One of the other men also may have had a knife, police said.

The victim dropped his chair and started toward the back door when one of the assailants picked up a chair and hit him over the head, Jones said.

Workers at the restaurant called police, and the men ran out the door. The incident may have been triggered by a dispute over a cell phone, DeKalb police Lt. Jim Kayes said.

Kayes said they are looking for two black men, one wearing a gray sweatshirt; the other a red jacket. He said they may have been driving a brown Chevy Malibu.

Police are investigating the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call DeKalb police at 748-8400.
