Nine sororities and two fraternities will take part in a dance competition benefiting a worthy cause.

“Do It to the Crowd,” a dance contest sponsored by Alpha Sigma Alpha, is an annual event that tries to get the crowd’s response by getting it involved in the performance.

“Each team will choreograph its own dance routines, skits and music,” said Laura Rapacz, a senior nutrition and dietetics major.

Rapacz said a crowd of 500 to 600 people is expected at the event, which has been held for almost 10 years.

“The event is open to everyone on campus,” said Jackie Peden, a sophomore finance major. “We want people to come out and support the event because the money will benefit a worthy cause.”

Entrance to the event is $6 for everyone; the money raised will be donated to the Special Olympics.

“It’s going to be a fun time,” Peden said. “We have a deejay, and the dancers are pretty upbeat.”
