CAB will empty offices for fall

By Sara Blankenheim

Those who want to become more involved in activity programming on campus now have a chance.

Campus Activities Board is accepting applications for various positions for the fall 2003 semester.

Every year, CAB has a 100 percent turnover, said Jennifer Suerth, CAB’s vice president of programming and activities. All positions will be vacant.

Applicants must be willing to volunteer ten or more hours a week, and desire to plan campus activities.

There are 18 areas with open positions; however, the most prominent include positions such as president, vice president of programming and activities and vice president of finance.

All positions are open to undergraduates, but graduate students may apply for the position of Student Association art curator.

Requirements to be a part of CAB are a 2.0 GPA at the time of application, which must be retained throughout the applicant’s term with CAB.

Other requirements are to attend all events the applicant plans, as well as other CAB events. There also are weekly staff and committee meetings employees must attend.

“We look for a person that likes to have fun, which might be the most important thing,” Suerth said. “We also look for a person who is experienced in different venues – someone who’s dedicated, responsible and works well with people.”

Job descriptions and applications are available at the Campus Life Building, Suite 160, or on CAB’s Web site, www.niu.edu/cab.
