DeKALB — NIU Athletics announced Monday the women’s basketball team has a new opponent for its road trip Wednesday due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The University of Toledo Rockets will host the Huskies at 4:30 p.m. CST Wednesday in Toledo for a contest previously scheduled for Feb. 6.

The change comes after the Mid-American Conference announced a pair of postponements for Wednesday’s slate of games. NIU’s meeting with Ball State University was cancelled as well as Toledo’s game against Kent State University. As a result, the conference decided to move up the NIU/Toledo game.

NIU, with a 4-2 conference record, will take a four-game winning streak to Toledo to face the Rockets that’s lost three of their last five games. Toledo leads the season series 1-0 after defeating NIU 82-79 Dec. 10.
