Coordinator named to Hoffman Estates Center

A former NIU graduate, instructor and adviser has come back home.

Judith Keeley has been named coordinator of program services for NIU’s new Hoffman Estates Education Center.

At NIU, Keeley earned her master’s degree in business administration, with a concentration of marketing. She served as academic program adviser for the marketing department and taught in NIU’s Small Business Development Center.

“I’m glad to be back at NIU,” Keeley said.

“Having been with NIU for six years, I feel that I can offer a lot to the position by knowing where and how to get things done.”

Keeley jumped at the coordinator position, which was created when the center opened in August.

In the position, Keeley will coordinate classes, seminars and conference times and locations.

“My main job is to manage the building, but marketing and public relations make up a big part of my job as well,” Keeley said.

Keeley said she hopes the center’s “executive-type” classrooms can be used in the future by local businesses as training classes and seminars.

Kathy Gilmer, director of the Hoffman Estates Education Center, described Keeley as the “ideal candidate” for the new position.

Gilmer also said Keeley has a strong background in all phases of program planning.

“Keeley will be responsible for all aspects of support services necessary for the varied programs offered at the new center,” Gilmer said.

Keeley’s other duties include assisting Gilmer in coordinating and directing assigned programs and taking the reins in her absence.

This summer, Keeley served as the chair of the department of statistics for the University of Illinois at Urbana.

She directed the Daybridge Learning Center in Addison and has taught seminars at Rockford College. Keeley also earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Elmhurst College.
