Some Gay-Lesbian Union members will have the chance to attend the prom they never went to, according to the GLU president.

The GLU will be sponsoring its first formal dinner/dance, said GLU President David Huggins. He said it will be an opportunity gays and lesbians will not want to miss.

“This will give gays and lesbians a chance to go to something (prom) they never went to,” he said.

uggins said all attendants should dress in formal attire.

Dinner will be held in the Holmes Student Center’s Skyroom at 6:45 p.m., followed by a dance at J.P. Hannagan’s from 9:30 p.m. until 2:00 a.m., Huggins said.

Huggins said anyone can go to the dance only and dress casually. Also, hors d’oeuvres will be served at the dance for those who don’t go to the dinner.

Huggins said he is looking forward to the event for several reasons.

“We are very excited because this is the first time we are having a formal dance,” Huggins said. “A lot of people have purchased tickets already.”

The dance and the dinner are open to all students on campus, Huggins added. J.P. Hannagan’s will be stamping people over 21 who are able to purchase drinks.

Tickets for the dinner and dance are $13 per person and $25 per couple, pre-purchased by Friday afternoon, Huggins said. Tickets for the dance only can be purchased at the door for $5.
