It’s time to start planning for the new year! The new moon may occur Sunday, just after New Year’s Day, but this is a more introspective new moon, with less focus on big projects and more focus on personal growth. Make sure your resolutions are reasonable and that you are kind to yourself.

Aries (Mar. 21 to Apr. 19)

Last week I said to take a step back, but this week I’m telling you to gear up to get back in the ring. Prepare for the future — immediate or long-term — but don’t worry too much about the “what ifs.” It’s more about a productive mindset than doomsday precautions.

Taurus (Apr. 20 to May 20)

Let go of your stubbornness. Much of your problems can be due to your own inability to change your mind. Standing firm in your beliefs is one thing; never compromising for other people is another. Your loved ones may develop grudges if their needs can’t get through to you.

Gemini (May 21 to Jun. 20)

Don’t be afraid of failure. You set high standards for yourself, which is well and good, but the pressure to meet your goals may become crushing. Remember that we are still in a pandemic which has altered how we perceive accomplishment and success.

Cancer (Jun. 21 to Jul. 22)

Trust that you are enough. You’ve been doing as much as you can to help other people, and it’s time to relax a little. Turn on a comedy special or a wholesome TV show and settle into your couch or bed for a couple hours. I suggest “Schitt’s Creek” or a Hannah Gadsby special.

Leo (Jul. 23 to Aug. 22)

Expand and redefine your comfort zone. You’re often uncomfortable by lulls in conversation, be they in person or through texts. Examine why this is. You could start to find freedom in this quiet place. A pause is merely a pause; you can press play again whenever you want.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

Clean your room. I mean this literally and metaphorically. Despite the stereotype that Virgos are the tidiest of the signs, you can potentially be quite messy. You like to be in control of other projects or people, but you often lose that willpower when it comes to yourself.

Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)

What does success mean to you? Perhaps it’s a million little things all going your way, perhaps it’s having an unbreakable lucky streak. Discover contentment however it manifests in you. This starts by looking inward and celebrating your own growth.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)

Encourage self-love. Water signs typically like self-deprecating humor, but you have a tendency to take it too far. If you’re truly bothered by your shortcomings, work on them instead of tearing yourself down for them, but be willing to accept yourself exactly as you are.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)

If you’re in a rough patch right now, know that you’re not alone. Your grand ambitions may have slowly waned over the past month due to illness or familial stress, which is a perfectly human situation to fall into. You will be OK. In the meantime, take care of yourself!

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)

Happy birth season! Take it slow this week. The holidays are usually chaotic, even if you’re not participating in them, and it can get exhausting to have to be a part of it all. Get some quality rest in and try to pamper yourself, because you’re worth it.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18)

Keep going with the flow. Right now, you’re either happily basking in the serene eye of the storm or you’re disgruntled and drenched by it. Whichever currently applies to you, take advantage of your situation however you can — there are always ways to improve your life.

Pisces (Feb. 19 to Mar. 20)

Distract yourself. Yes, the world seems to be irreversibly falling apart and burning up, but there’s only so much one person can do. Unless you happen to be a billionaire, it’s OK to look away if your world-conscious anxiety becomes too much to handle.
