Primaries critical

Voters across Illinois will go to the polls Tuesday to cast votes in the primary elections. The candidates are many and the issues are diverse.

For the presidential candidates who have been stumping through Illinois since Super Tuesday, the election is critical in their quest for delegates. For candidates from the same party battling for chances to run for Congress, it’s equally critical.

However, all politics is local. DeKalb residents and NIU students can use their voting privilege in several local races, including ones for the State House of Representatives and Senate.

While none of the presidential hopefuls has made it to DeKalb, votes cast here will be important to them. Candidates for other Washington spots have spoken at NIU or have visited.
