Police, fire and EMS personnel respond to the scene where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near New Residence Hall on Lincoln Drive.

DeKALB — An NIU student was struck by a vehicle in front of the New Residence Hall at about 12:20 p.m. on Monday.

The person who was hit by the car has been released from the hospital, according to Deputy Chief Jason John and the NIU Police Department. The person hit was not walking in a crosswalk at the time of the incident.

The investigation of the incident has been concluded and no citations have been issued to anyone involved.

John said he encourages people to pay attention while driving and while walking around campus.

As of Monday, incident was still an ongoing investigation, John said. The student was taken away by ambulance. Their condition was unknown at the time.
