The NIU football team runs onto the field at Huskie Stadium ahead of their game Sept. 11 against Wyoming.

This weekend will be the perfect time to enjoy some sun before the winter weather. Here’s what is going on in DeKalb this Saturday.

DEKALB BACK ALLEY MARKET

Boho-inspired market with vintage, retro, artists, bakers, woodworkers, jewelry makers, glassblowers, candle makers, soaps, lotions, henna tattoos, pumpkins, mums, food, music and more.

The market is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. located on Palmer Court and 2nd Street.

BRUNCH WITH MISSION AND VICTOR E. HUSKIE

The brunch will be a full buffet of scrambled eggs, hashbrown casserole, bacon, fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, assorted pastries, coffee and juice. Guests who are over 21 years old will receive one ticket for a Dawgma beer from Pollyanna Brewing & Distilling or a bloody mary featuring Blue Ice Handcrafted Vodka with their tickets. 

There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures with our favorite mascots, Mission II and Victor E. Huskie

The brunch will take place outside of Altgeld Hall under a tent at 9:30 a.m. You can purchase tickets here

TAILGATING WITH THE DEANS

NIU Law alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to tailgate with the deans from the law school. There will be free food and beverages. 

Tailgating begins at noon in Swen Parson Hall.

HUSKIE PRE-GAME RUSH

Huskie students will gather in the end zone to rush the field with Victor E. Huskie, Mission II and other students from all across campus to kick off our Homecoming game. 

The rush will begin at 1:45 p.m. Pre-register here

HOMECOMING FOOTBALL

The NIU Huskies face off against the University of Toledo Rockets. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. at Huskie Stadium. 

Come show off your Huskie pride and watch the Huskies play in the 115th Homecoming Game! 

ALUMNI DAY PARTY 

After tailgating and watching the football game, come to the day party. There will be food, games, music and fellowship with other alumni. 

The day party begins at 4 p.m. in the Duke Ellington Ballroom. 

REP YO STEP AND STROLL COMPETITION

It is the return of the National Pan-Hellenic Council’s annual Rep Yo Step and Stroll competition. This is a chance to witness the Divine Nine perform in an intense competition between organizations. 

The competition will take place in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium from 6-9 p.m. 

NIU VOLLEYBALL

The NIU Huskies will host Cancer Awareness Night against the Miami University RedHawks. The match will start at 7 p.m. at Victor E. Court.
