SA releases names of executive candidates

The Student Association released the names of candidates for executive board Thursday, revealing a full slate of contenders.

Potential candidates had to turn in petitions with 200 signatures by Tuesday. At that time, candidates had to indicate what position they were running for.

SA elections are scheduled for March 24 and 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at three different locations on campus.

Four candidates are running for SA president, currently held by Preston Came. Gino Barrto, who became an SA senator this semester, Timothy Dinan, a transfer student from the College of DuPage, Maurice Thomas, SA Student Committee on Financial Aid adviser and former SA senator Daniel Bryant will vie for the presidential spot.

Vice presidential candidates are Campus Activities Board member Stacy Beck, Jennifer Sarro, SA senator, finance committee member and SCOFA committee member, and Matthew Schmidt, an SA senator and member of the SA Internal Affairs committee.

The candidates running for treasurer are Antoine Boulrece, Annette LeDonne and SA Senator Tony Lopykinski.

Because of a bylaw amendment passed at the last SA meeting, the list of the candidates’ names were made public 48 hours after the petition deadline.

SA Elections Commissioner Lance Schart said he did not have any biographical information on the candidates.

Last year, SA Vice President John Quilico and SA Treasurer Joe Kolerich ran unopposed. Came defeated former SA senator Kelly Marie McDonald in a landslide election to nab the president’s position.
