A 24-hour Veterans Vigil will be held by the DeKalb County Courthouse from 3:30 p.m. on Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday to honor American veterans and their service.

An opening ceremony for the vigil is open to the public. It will feature guest speakers State Representative Jeff Kiecher, Command Sergeant Major Robert Coulter, and Retired Illinois Army National Guard Dwain Adkins. The ceremony will also present music sung by local musician Terri Goodman.

Veteran volunteers will be forming a guard watch for the vigil for an hour each during the entirety of the 24-hour event. Anyone from the public may stop by the vigil any time during the event.

For any veterans interested in volunteering to join the guard watch, contact Dwain Adkins at 815-895-6927.
